This course will cover Aircraft maintenance like overhaul, repair, inspection or modication of an aircraft or aircraft components. including piston and jet engines. Maintenance includes such tasks as ensuring compliance with Airworthiness Directives.

Review
This Mooc offered by NPTEL (National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning – India) is currently the only free Mooc about technical aircraft engine maintenance. The strength of this course is the detailed explanation of how piston engines work and what you have to consider for maintenance of aircraft engines. A chapter about jet engines concludes the course. The course design, mainly based on lecture of video slides is somewhat different of European or American Moocs : it doesn’t allow a lot of interactions and visual and sound quality could be improved. What I appreciated most about this course were several Lab session videos, where the instructor disassembled real aircraft engines for maintenance and also illustrated eventual risks of engine failures due to fatigue, pre-ignition or bad assembling. This Lab session videos completed perfectly the theoretical explanations. Apart some exceptions, the NPTEL course team answered promptly to questions of the participants on the discussion forum. Personal average score of the 8 assignments was 97%.
